Rhodes State College is greeting their newest class today at their campus welcoming event.

The students don't seem to dread the thought of school starting with all of the fun from the day. After an opening ceremony, they all paraded into their own welcome party at the Rhodes State quad. There were games, music and most importantly, free ice cream, leaving the students ready for a sweet start.

"I'm really excited, I'm ready to start the new experience and kind of move onto my next step in life and I'm sure I'll have a lot of fun here and learn something and hopefully come out graduated," says freshman Brandon Dues.

"There's a lot of people, there's a lot of different people. everyone is having a good time, and I'm ready to have a good time and ready for the school year," says freshman Robert Ford.

Rhodes State President, Debra L. McCurdy finds it important to give the students a fun start to the year.

"We're looking forward to the student coming, finding their niche, finding the right profession that they want to get into and all the support services that we have that will determine how they can be best supported. As we get them in, we also have a responsibility to get them out," says Dr. McCurdy.
