Rhodes State College to host 2019 Academic Award Ceremony

LIMA OHIO -- On Wednesday evening, March 20, at 6:30 pm, over eighty-five graduating students who have excelled in their studies at Rhodes State College will be honored during the 2019 Academic Awards Ceremony. Honorees include individuals with grade point averages of 3.5 and higher; twenty-seven Outstanding Students will be recognized by faculty members from each of the College’s three academic divisions: Arts & Sciences, Business, Technology & Public Service and Health Sciences, A. Chester Burns Award and the All-Ohio Academic Teams. As well as the Honor Society Inductees from Phi Theta Kappa, Alpha Beta Gamma and Lambda Nu. The event will take place in the Keese Hall Multipurpose Center at Rhodes State College, 4240 Campus Drive, Lima.

All-Ohio Academic Team: To be eligible for the All-Ohio Academic Team, students must be nominated by their college president. Nominees must be eligible to graduate during the current academic year and have a cumulative grade point average of at least 3.5. The rankings for the All-Ohio Academic Team are determined by the scores nominees receive in the All-USA Academic Team judging. Winners are selected on the basis of academic performance, demonstration of leadership, and community service involvement. Rhodes State students, Alton McPheron, Darby Olson, Gracie Prine and Jenna Winner earned All-Ohio Academic Team honors and will be honored at an awards ceremony on April 25, 2019, at the State House Atrium in Columbus.

Tau Alpha Pi is the national honor society for engineering technology. Founded in 1953, Tau Alpha Pi is open to both associate-degree and baccalaureate candidates. The purpose of Tau Alpha Pi is to recognize high standards of scholarship among students in engineering technology programs; and to promote and encourage scholastic achievement by offering outstanding engineering technology students membership in the society. 2019 Inductees: Logan G. Williams, Advanced Maintenance Technology; Luke Best, Electronic Engineering Technology; Caden John Schroeder, Manufacturing Engineering Technology. Faculty Inductee: Dr. Charles Butcher, Instructor, Mechanical Engineering Technology. Honorary Inductee: Steve Peck, Regional Coordinator, Greater Northwest Ohio Tech Prep Consortium.

Alpha Beta Gamma is an International Business Honor Society established in 1970 to recognize and encourage scholarship among two-year college students in business and related curricula at degree-granting academic institutions. Since its founding, over 60,000 business honor students from accredited community, junior and technical colleges have been initiated into the society.
